still waiting...

we are still waiting for baby claire to arrive. i technically still have another week or so, but i guess i was just expecting her to be here by now. goes to show that babies just come when they feel like it, not when we want them to! the doctor did say yesterday that she is probably going to be around 9 lbs - that was comforting (hope you can sense the sarcasm). then she really went on to say that if i don't cut back on the carbs, she could be closer to 10lbs!! who says that to a 10 month pregnant person- cut back on the carbs....um not happening. i am feeding myself and a LARGE baby!! if i don't eat carbs i will be starving! i am just ignoring her comment (while at the same time hoping she isn't right).  

gus is patiently waiting for baby sister too. this picture is one that we could take pretty much every day. he loves to just relax and sleep in her room. i wonder if he will still want to do that when she is crying at night?!? doubt it. 

baby girl's third shower!!

i know. i didn't blog about shower number two. i didn't have very many pictures, but I may still blog about it if I get around to it (probably not though:). shower #3 was with my friends from my ward (and a few from other places). my close friends chelle & liz were kind enough to host it for me (thanks you two). we had so much fun. the food was great & we had a great time playing "name the celebrity baby". baby claire got so many fabulous gifts - she is so lucky and maybe a little spoiled already. thanks to everyone who came - i really appreciate it!!

big brother :: guard dog

on any regular day,  gus follows jonathan & me around the house everywhere we go. he just loves to hang out with us & be right in the middle of everything (that's why we love bulldogs). but lately he has been disappearing at random times, so we end up looking for him to see what it is he is up to & here is what we find.... 

gus guarding the crib. he thinks he is a guard dog & that it is his job to protect baby claire's crib. it is so funny (& sweet) to see him doing this. he will sit there forever, just hanging out & looking around. we can't help but laugh. we love that he is going to be such a loving & protective big brother. now, if we could only teach him how to change her diapers....

i am almost 23 weeks & we can't believe how fast the time is passing. our little girl is getting so big & she will be here before we know it. here is the latest belly shot...

oh & thank you claire for kicking mommy so much at night when she is trying to fall asleep. daddy thinks it's funny but mommy would appreciate it if you try to go to sleep when she does:) Love you.

Pitter Patter...

This past weekend, I felt Claire kick & move around for the first time. Words cannot describe how amazing it feels. Just knowing that she is alive and growing inside me makes me want to be a better person (& jonathan too). We can't wait to meet her.

I am addicted to etsy.

etsy is seriously one of the best things ever invented. you can find the cutest & most unique things on there for reasonable prices. i have been doing some shopping for baby claire on there the past couple weeks & here is what i have gotten so far....

this is claire's bedding that I absolutely LOVE. it is made of a bunch of different amy butler fabrics & i love how girly it looks. the shop that makes it has so many cute & original bedding sets for girls & boys. so precious.

these are called crawler covers. i think they look like tiny little leg warmers. i can't wait to put these on her chunky little legs when she gets here. they will make any tiny outfit cute (even a onsie).

this is a poster that i have been looking for forever. i was reading my domino magazine this month & there it was, in one of their decorating photos. i read the caption & it told me that i could get it here on etsy. i was so excited. i love the saying & it goes with the shabby chic style of our house. this one is more for me than claire though:) but it is going in her room - that is why it is pink. i can't wait for it to get here so i can frame it.

As requested by friends and family,  here is a belly shot at 18 weeks (yea - I am almost 1/2 way there). I am so happy to be out of the "I just look fat" stage. People can actually tell I am pregnant now, Hooray! 

Baby Project #1

Project #1 = Burp cloths

I bought some of my favorite fabrics from etsy & some wash cloths to match. I want to have some burp cloths that I will love using for the baby & won't mind carrying around all the time. My newest creations are going to be made out of these:

I will post photos when I am finished. Oh wait, did I mention I am brand new to sewing?! It should be interesting. My poor Nana for having to teach me. I am glad she is so patient because I am so excited to learn.

More baby stuff...

This is our first big purchase for the baby ....

We love it and can't wait for it to get here (we ordered it online)!!! Since we are starting to buy things for the baby, the pregnancy is actually starting to feel more real. Is it bad that sometimes I actually forget I am pregnant?! My pregnancy has been so easy (sorry shana - haha) that I don't really even feel pregnant yet. I am sure when my belly gets all big and I can hardly sleep since I am so uncomfortable,  I won't have trouble remembering. For now, I will enjoy it though. 

Crazy Fast

Jonathan and I are so excited that we got to hear our precious baby's heartbeat for the first time today!! I can't believe how fast it is - 160 BPM's...crazy! Lot's of people have told us how fast their heartbeats are, but it's still so surprising when you hear your own baby's heart beating super fast. I am almost 14 weeks, so I know it's a little late to hear it for the first time, but our last appt. was at 9 weeks and they said that was too early to hear it then. Lovely Kaiser wanted us to wait until I was 16 weeks to hear it, and we said NO WAY.  I guess being an annoying stalker about getting in for another appt. really does pay off in the end. Yea for us:) 

I am starting a poll to see if our family and friends think we are having a girl (my preference) or a boy (Jonathan's preference). So vote on the poll to the right and let us know what you think:)

P.S. In reality, we both will be SO happy no matter what the sex is!!
